Under the guidance of ADVISO PARTNERS, CAPZA, a major private equity player specialising in small and mid-cap companies, has become a minority shareholder in the MT SYSTEMS Group, the leading provider of washing services for reusable plastic cases for the agri-food industry. The aim is to accelerate MT SYSTEMS' development in this fast-growing niche market in France and internationally.
Founded in 1994, Perpignan-based MT SYSTEMS is the world leader in washing services for reusable plastic cases for the agri-food industry. The containers are used for packing and transporting fruits, vegetables, meat, baked goods and fish. The Group has operations in 6 countries in Europe (France, Spain, Portugal and Germany) and North America (the United States and Canada), including 13 washing sites. In 2020, it achieved revenues of nearly €100 million, having washed more than 700 million crates.
MT SYSTEMS enjoys a positioning at the heart of a circular ecosystem incorporating producers, large food retailers and "poolers" (suppliers of reusable plastic containers). The development of this ecosystem to replace the use of disposable containers (cardboard, wood, polystyrene) allows companies to meet sustainable development challenges and public health requirements (decontamination of containers), while enabling large food retailers to fulfil their logistics automation goals.
By welcoming CAPZA on board as a shareholder, the Group aims to gain significant financial resources, together with additional expertise to accelerate its development in a fast-growing niche market, expand into new countries to increase its global footprint, and seize opportunities for external growth.
MT SYSTEMS aims to implement a strategy of diversification in sectors related to its core business, in particular through a targeted acquisition policy. The Group therefore seeks to consolidate companies specialising in washing various types of container, to further increase its expertise in the automation of industrial washing processes, and to cement its position as the global leader in industrial washing services in the medium term.
CAPZA is joining the Group as a minority shareholder, with founding shareholders Gildas BOUILLY and Serge PEREZ retaining control of the Group. The transaction also provided an opportunity for the management team to increase their participation in capital.
"The industrial washing segment is a fast-growing market. By welcoming CAPZA on board, we are giving this business the means to develop within a structure that will enable it to strengthen its positions not only in its existing markets, but also in new ones." Gildas BOUILLY, Chairman of MT SYSTEMS
"We were won over by the plan to develop an exciting business expertly led by Gildas Bouilly and his team. Our aim is to support the growth of MT SYSTEMS by enabling it to consolidate its position as the global leader in washing services for reusable crates, as well as helping to drive MT SYSTEMS' future expansion". Benoit CHOPPIN, Co-Head of Flex Equity France at CAPZA
"CAPZA is a quality partner to support MT SYSTEMS and its management team in the strong growth to come. We are pleased to have contributed to this alliance to sustain and accelerate MT's story" - Marc LEBRUN, Managing Partner at ADVISO PARTNERS.
