Founded in 2008 by Bruno SPINNER and Carsten REINS, LUXEL is an independent producer of renewable energy, which develops, designs, builds and operates ground-mounted photovoltaic power plants in France. LUXEL holds a portfolio of one gigawatt peak (1 GWp) of projects already in operation, ready to build or under development. The Company's team comprises 40 renowned specialists in photovoltaic energy, split between a head office in Pérols (Hérault department) and six development offices across France.
The sale process of LUXEL managed by ADVISO PARTNERS aroused considerable interest among European energy companies. It is the project of EDF RENEWABLES, subsidiary of EDF GROUP and leading international player in the sector of renewable energies, which convinced the shareholders.
« Given EDF's goals in the solar energy segment and the company's guiding values, EDF RENEWABLES' business proposal appeared to be the most compelling option for LUXEL and our employees. We are delighted to be joining forces with the EDF GROUP, and we hope the tie-up will sustain and speed up LUXEL's development, which we had previously pursued independently with our teams », commented Bruno SPINNER et Carsten REINS, respectively Chairman and CEO of LUXEL.
Thanks to this acquisition, EDF Renewables, a leading player in France's renewable energies sector, now operates 320 MWp in gross photovoltaic capacity nationwide across more than one hundred facilities. The Group is also expanding its portfolio of photovoltaic projects under development by approximately 900 MWp.
The acquisition of LUXEL will contribute to accelerate EDF Renewables' growth in solar energy and bring it a step closer towards achieving the objectives in the Solar Plan, which aims to establish the EDF Group as France's leader in photovoltaic energy, with a 30% market share between 2020 and 2035.
